I drive from Wasilla to this Fred Meyer because it's generally not as busy. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Parking can be difficult, but it's worth it for the simplicity in the store.

Alaska groceries are costly overall - and makes sense since it’s costly to transport up here —but I love the overall quality and the store is pleasant to shop and explore. There are always Lots of specials and love the bakery dept and the boars head deli selections. It’s fun to search the housewares and toys and even hardware. I appreciate a one stop shopping experience and Fred meyers is the GOAT for me.

Ordered a custom cake from the bakery and there was a small misunderstanding on one of the choices. We needed it that day, and cake decorator Faith prepared a new cake on very short notice. Props to her for going above and beyond!
I know not all grocery stores in a chain are supposed to be better or worse than another, but the Fred Meyer store in Palmer is like the best Fred Meyers store I've ever been to. And for that matter probably one of the best Kroger stores I've been to in the entire United States. I feel like they must have a really good manager over there, the staff seem to be very nice but in a way that seems like they're genuinely happy, the products that are also stocked seem to be of a higher quality, and when things such as produce maybe are not their best they seem to be removed before people even notice. It's like a bizarrely excellent experience shopping at this Fred Meyers, so much so that a few times I've been out with my wife and we will drive all the way from Wasilla into Palmer just to shop at this Fred Meyers haha. I know it's a newer store but, I think there's something a little magical about it.
